"This summer when my Fiancée and I decided to start looking for our first home, we had absolutely no idea who to choose for our realtor. Neither of us grew up in the Capital Region. After doing extensive research and reading many reviews, we came across Diane Sluus, and the reviews on Zillow almost sounded too good to be true to me…but they weren’t. I contacted Diane, and was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The reviews I read were spot-on and I’m thankful because Diane made our home buying experience an absolute pleasure.
We started working with Diane on the purchase of our first home around July 4, 2013. Being first-time home buyers, we had many questions and didn’t exactly know how the process worked, but Diane always seemed to have the answers and provided us the guidance that we needed. As all of her other client reviews state…Diane is not a pushy sales person…she is all about guiding you through the process. She’s a true real estate professional.
From the very beginning Diane was very friendly, courteous, thoughtful and easy to talk with. She listened to what our needs and wants were, even as they evolved throughout the process. I can still remember the first night meeting Diane. She showed us two houses. It didn’t take long for me to realize that Diane was definitely there to work for us and make sure we found exactly what we were looking for. As we walked through the first house…after knowing us for five minutes, she was quick to point things out, whether they were good or bad. These were things that a first time homebuyer probably wouldn’t be looking for as they walked through the door, but for a person that’s probably walked through thousands of homes, they were things she noticed and wanted to make sure we were aware of. She made us feel comfortable that we had an advocate in our corner to guide us through this new experience. She clearly wasn’t just looking for a commission check, but rather was trying to make sure we found “Our Home.”
There were many times when we’d meet Diane to look at a few houses and I would walk in and immediately know that it was not happening. Whenever I tried to apologize to Diane for wasting her time…she always assured us that nothing is ever a waste of time. Though I felt bad…she was right…each time we walked through another house…we were all learning and zeroing in on what exactly our needs and must-haves were. I can’t overemphasize her patience. If there is one thing I hate…it’s being rushed or pushed to make a decision. Diane is the complete opposite of pushy.
Diane definitely showed us a lot of houses that met most of needs but just didn’t feel like “Home.” I admitted to her that I was slightly OCD and sometimes difficult to please, and warned her that I had worked in the home construction business previously so I was particular about many things, but she didn’t seem to mind the challenge. When we crossed houses off the list, Diane would immediately help us find others.
Once we did finally find “Our Home” and began the process of putting in an offer and closing, Diane was there every step of the way answering my many questions and working closely with the bank, our inspector, our attorney and the Seller’s agent to make the purchase as smooth as possible. Diane was great to work with and both my Fiancée and I enjoyed getting to know her and having her help us in our journey to find our first home.
We are very excited to be getting married soon and getting settled into our new home. Should I ever have the need sell our house or purchase another house, there is no doubt in my mind, that Diane will be my realtor. I’d honestly recommend her to anybody that is considering buying or seller a home in the Capital Region. She’s absolutely fabulous to work with and I’m so happy that our paths crossed.
